Les Iles de la Madeleine

It is the end of 2013. I am happy to be spending it here, in this place of great need and great beauty, where God has placed us. They say they have not had this much snow since the 1990's; I am thankful to experience it, to spend twelve precious days here during this special time of year, to enjoy the snow, to draw near to the Lord. And to pray that He uses me wherever He places me in 2014.

The snow has been falling steadily since Wednesday. By now it has piled up into a thick covering over our deck, and the tracks of the red fox are hardly discernible in the yard. He has been frequenting our place, industriously digging holes in the frozen earth in which he buries small rodents. I have not yet been able to get a picture of him, nor of the pair of Stellar Jays in our tree; perhaps today.
The house is quiet and warm. Temperatures are in the teens outside, and there is the soft blowing sound of snow drifting against the windows. In a few minutes, Ibby and I will get on our parkas and mittens and hats, and brave the weather to enjoy a quick (read: freezing) walk... I think some of her amazing hot chocolate will be in store soon.

Delight thyself also in the Lord;
And He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
